Litter & Weeds

Litter is unavoidable, it blows off boats and out the backs of trucks, but we don’t have to live with it. The County, solid waste providers, local nonprofits and engaged citizens pitch in each spring and fall to gather litter of roads and beaches through the Great Island Cleanup.

Noxious weeds are managed by the Noxious Weed Board, but some of their disposal occurs at solid waste facilities. If you are a volunteer community member that is pulling weeds to help our environment, you can drop off certain target species at the transfer stations free of charge.
