CALL TO ORDER & FLAG SALUTEEXCUSED ABSENCES
8.EXECUTIVE SESSION: To Evaluate the Performance of a Public Employee pursuant to RCW 42.30.110 (1)(g).
9.CLOSED SESSION: To discuss matters pertaining to collective bargaining pursuant to RCW 42.30.140(4)(b).
10.EXECUTIVE SESSION: To discuss with legal counsel litigation or potential litigation pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(i).
COUNCIL MEMBER & COUNTY MANAGER UPDATES:
Council Update:
Councilmember Minney:
- Attended the Board of Health meeting
- Visited Orcas landing project progress
- Attended a Land Bank meeting with a tribal panel which presented the opportunities that can exist with a relationship with the tribes.
- Will attend Shaw Island Council meeting
- Will attend the Washington State Association of Counties Board of Directors conference
Council Member Fuller:
- Working with staff to prepare agenda for Shaw Council meeting
- Acknowledged the collaboration between the County’s Parks and Fair Department and the Lopez Chamber of Commerce to produce the Tour de Lopez Event
- Attended a meeting of the North Sound Transportation Alliance
- Attended Housing Lopez Board meeting
- WA State Transportation Commission Meeting is coming to San Juan Island in June
- Attended an orientation in SWISS committee
- Will attend a meeting with neighbors in the MacKaye Harbor area re: Public Works Facilities
- Canoe Journey is attending Lopez on May 24th
Council Chair Wolf:
- Met with SWISS Executive Committee
- Attended the Board of Health meeting
- Attended a meeting with Orcas Island residents in April to discuss frustrations with DCD
- Met with WSU Extension staff
- Attended Veterans Administration Board meeting
- Attended the Eastsound Planning Review Commission Board meeting
- Attended Ecosystems Coordination Board meeting
Legislative Update:
Manager Update: Mike Thomas, County Manager Council
- Continuing PFAS discussions and problem-solving
- Working on ongoing union negotiations
- County road chip seal schedule has been announced
- Suggested that the Argyle Lots project be discussed at a late May Council Meeting
- Beginning training on new council meeting software, Civic Clerk, for future use
Clerk Update: Sally Rogers, Clerk/ Substitute Nadine Varsovia
- Provided a short update about the Board of Equalization
- Provided an update on the internship program
