Communicable Diseases

We want to help you stay healthy and to support you through strategies that can prevent or stop the spread of disease. We can help test for and treat certain communicable disease conditions. For those conditions that we are unable to treat through our clinics, we can connect people with other community treatment resources. Below, you can see some of the ways our department works to prevent and limit the spread of communicable diseases in our community.

Communicable Disease Testing

No one will be denied services because of inability to pay. To schedule an appointment please call 360-378-4474.

Notifiable Conditions

Healthcare providers, laboratories, and hospitals report certain communicable diseases to us as required by the Washington State Department of Health. Reporting communicable diseases helps protect our community and helps our disease prevention and outbreak response efforts.

Some notifiable conditions include: COVID-19, animal bites, botulism, chlamydia, foodborne disease outbreaks, gonorrhea, hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, measles, Mpox, shellfish poisoning, tuberculosis, and more. To see a full list of notifiable conditions, click here.

Treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI)

We offer the following services at no cost:

  • Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT): Anonymous treatment is available to those exposed to chlamydia or gonorrhea.
  • Safety Net STI Treatment: Treatment specifically for those diagnosed with chlamydia or gonorrhea who may not be able to get treated by the provider who tested them.

Learn more about these services here or get connected with a public health nurse right away by calling 360-378-4474.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases

Many diseases can be prevented by immunizations. At our vaccine clinics we are able to provide immunizations to all children (ages 18 years and younger) and uninsured adults. Learn more about our immunizations program here.
