County Manager

Overview

The County Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the County, provides direct supervision of administrative departments, provides strategic and policy support to the County Council, and works in cooperation with the elected officials. The County Manager is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the County Council.

Function

The County Manager is a key position in helping to provide for an accountable and responsive county government by ensuring effective, efficient and economical administration in accordance with the County Charter, the Washington State Constitution and other applicable federal, state, and local laws and County policy.

Centralized Services

The Centralized Services are housed and managed thru the County Manager's Office. Centralized Services provides quality internal support services to all San Juan County departments and agencies to ensure coordinated, accountable, efficient and cost-effective use of resources. Centralized Services include: 

  • Facilities & Real Estate Management: The Facilities Management manages and maintains county buildings and   grounds, contract services, and real estate leases.
  • Human Resources: Human Resources (HR) provides leadership in attracting and retaining   quality staff for effective service to the citizens of San Juan County. 
  • Communications: Manages all County communications (news flashes, newsletters, public outreach, media relations, special projects, and social media).
  • Information Technology: Information Technology manages computer systems, telecommunications, internet/intranet services, records management, and mail services.
  • Risk Management & Claims: Manages insurance, processes claims and legal challenges, and   employee training.
