Bring your expertise and passion to the table! San Juan County is currently seeking qualified applicants for positions on the following advisory committees coordinated by the Department of Environmental Stewardship: 

Marine Resources Committee 
(Council Representative: Jamie Stephens) 
#4 At Large (partial term- 1 yr) 
#8 At Large (full term 4 yr) 

The Marine Resources Committee’s mission is to protect and restore the marine waters, habitats and species of the Salish Sea to achieve ecosystem health and sustainable resource use.

Solid Waste Advisory Committee (Council Representative: Christine Minney) 
#6 - San Juan Resident (3 yr) 
#7 – Lopez Resident (3 yr) 
#8 – Business Sector – At Large (3 yr) 

The Solid Waste Advisory Committee advises on all aspects of solid waste management planning, assists in the development of programs and policies concerning solid waste management, and recommends appropriate public policy to the Council and the Friday Harbor Town Council.

The Clean Water Advisory Committee’s purpose is to provide advice to County Council and make recommendations pertaining to water, including capital facilities, projects, priorities of projects and other policy matters. 

The new Climate and Sustainability Advisory Committee (Council Representative: Cindy Wolf) is being formed and will be launched in the coming weeks - stay tuned for a forthcoming invitation for applicants. 

Each committee will review and interview applicants, before forwarding a recommendation to County Council for approval. All committee members must provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination per San Juan County requirements.
