Council Takes Next Step in Argyle Lots Housing Project by Selecting San Juan Community Home Trust
During the April 18 meeting, Council members voted to accept the Housing Advisory Committee’s recommendation of selecting the San Juan Community Home Trust as the chosen applicant from the RFQ submittals received and further directed staff to begin negotiating a developer agreement with the Home Trust. The culmination of several months of public meetings, presentations, and questions, the Council is now directing County staff to enter into an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA) to negotiate a Developer Agreement with the San Juan Community Home Trust for the Argyle Lots Affordable Housing Project.

April is designated as National Volunteer Month, and the County Council signed a proclamation recognizing and celebrating all County volunteers who participate in caring for fellow islanders, natural resources, and the County at large. Over 400 community members invested over 11,500 reported volunteer hours in the last year, providing a profound impact on the quality of our services, the health of our environment, and the well-being of our community. Marie Boe Building Renovation Begins at Fairgrounds
Thanks in part to a grant from the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA), the Parks and Fair Department is adding restroom and shower facilities onto the Marie Boe Building and providing a separated space for the County’s Emergency Operations Center. Other new building features include demonstration plazas, a new roof, acoustic paneling, and more. Substantial completion is scheduled for early August – in time for the annual County Fair.
