Following the State’s public comment period and review, the
Washington State Department of Ecology (Ecology) provided the County with
formal comments on the updated Shoreline Master Program. Ecology’s comments identify specific changes
to Ordinance 01-2016 that addressed updates to the Comprehensive Plan and
development regulations.
The County has until May 10, 2017 to agree to the
proposed changes or submit alternative proposals to Ecology. Any proposed
alternatives will be reviewed for consistency with the intent of Ecology’s
comments and the Shoreline Management Act.
The Department of Community Development will be scheduling a briefing
with County Council to discuss Ecology’s proposed changes.
