Vacation Rental Moratorium

San Juan County Council enacted a moratorium on new vacation rental permits effective 12:01 am January 13, 2021. The moratorium prohibits any County department from accepting an application for a vacation rental permit within Urban Growth Areas, Hamlets, and Activity Centers. A public hearing on the moratorium was held on February 23, 2021, and continued until March 9, 2021.
On July 12, 2021 the moratorium on new vacation rental permits was renewed for an additional six months, to expire on January 12, 2022. On December 7, 2021 the moratorium was renewed a second time for six additional months, to expire on July 13, 2022.
