Dog Licenses

San Juan County Auditor's Office loves dogs! We also license them. For your pet's safety and your own peace of mind, in addition to complying with the law, we encourage all San Juan County residents to license their dogs annually.

You can now purchase or renew your dog's license online! Please navigate to the Online Dog Licensing application. Scroll down for in-person or mail options.

Requirements

All dogs in San Juan County and the Town of Friday Harbor are required to be licensed yearly. The license application must include the gender, breed, name, and owner of the dog. Please notify the Auditor's Office if you no longer have a dog, so the dog license records can be updated before the annual renewal date. The licensing period is from January 1 to December 31 of each year, with no proration. There is a late fee after March 31. Licenses purchased between November 1 and December 31 are applied to the following year.

Cats are not required to be licensed.
